Tasting Room Sales Associate/Host(ess)
Job Title: Tasting Room Sales AssociateReports to: Tasting Room Manager, General Manager
Job Overview: The sales associate position is for talented, enthusiastic people with a passion for wine and working with the public. Candidates must be articulate & motivated, with excellent sales and customer service skills. Candidates must be able to speak about the wine making process, wine characteristics and the history of Hazlitt’s winery.
Full-time/Part-time positions available
Hourly wage commensurate with experience.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Greet our guests as they arrive in the tasting room
- Pour our wine with confidence while discussing our brand/heritage
- Engage visitors in conversation that will make them feel relaxed and comfortable in our establishment
- Stock wine and merchandise in retail sales room
- Maintain, in cooperation with other tasting room staff, the cleanliness of the tasting room, restrooms, tasting room offices and outside winery grounds
- Open/Close duties
- Uphold NYS Law: Check ID’s of anyone who appears under the age of 30, do not serve anyone who is visibly intoxicated, etc.
All other duties as deemed necessary for the successful operation of the winery
Qualifications:
- Able to lift 40 lbs regularly and stand for long periods of time
- Must possess excellent customer service skills
- Willing to work weekends and most holidays (and occasional evenings for training sessions)
- Retail experience preferred
- Professionalism and courtesy extended at all times to customers and co-workers
- Willing to further skills in areas such as: wine knowledge, supervision and management, verbal/written skills, sales, conflict and problem solving, computer skills
